Subject:
Using "Calibration Standard Group" in GAGEtrak 6

Dear User,

Introduction
Standard Group is used to create a set of Gage Calibration Standards, which can be reused for defining new or existing Gage Types in Gage Master. i.e. you create a Standard Group for "6Inch Caliper" and attach it to all Gages having Gage Type as "6 Inch Caliper". It works on, create once and use as many times, as you want logic. It makes your Gage Calibration Standards uniform, easy to keep track and modify. Please note that Standard Group is useful only when you have more then 1 Gages having same Calibration Standards.

Caution
This feature is ideally meant for users who has recently switched over to GAGEtrak 6 or who wants to standardize their existing GAGEtrak Database. If you are an existing user then we recommend that you should take the Database Backup and then proceed.

Note
Using this feature systematically, users can make their GAGEtrak Calibration Database standard, simple and flexible. We emphasis new users to use this feature for creating New Gage Master Database.

Now we will discuss in detail, usage and meaning of each field in Calibration Standard Detail form.
1) Standard ID - Unique name for Standard in that Standard Group. We recommend that this name start with No. I.e. '1. Block (0 Inch)'
2) Type - Either 'V' for variable or 'A' for Attribute
3) Units - Can be Inch, MM, or any other.
4) Ref Type - Gage Type, which is used to calibrate Caliper at '1. Block (0 Inch)' I.e. 'Gage Blocks'
5) Gage Id of Standard - Gage, which is used to calibrate Caliper at '1. Block (0 Inch)' I.e. 'Gage Blk 0015'
6) *Format - No. Of decimals to display. We recommend that user should select this value, as it is referred while generating GAGEtrak Reports
7) Minimum - Minimum value for this standard.
8) Nominal - Nominal value for this standard.
9) Maximum - Maximum value for this standard. Above 3 values are referred when user enters calibration records for this gage and for this calibration standard. If that value in not between these values, GAGEtrak will treat it as outside calibration standards.
This way user should enter Calibration Standard from 1 Inch to 6 Inch and all these standards should have above details entered.

One Important thing about Standard Group is, when you modify any Standard Group, Gagetrak can make those modifications to all Gage Types where this Standard Group is attached.

The question arises, if user changes Calibration Standard under Gage then what will happen? Answer is GAGEtrak will not change Standard Group Data. In Short modifications in Standard Group can be reflected in for Calibration Standard for Gages, but modification in Calibration Standards for Gages will not change the Standard Group.

We hope this Article will be useful to make your GAGEtrak Database more streamlined. Let me know if you have any queries / suggestions.
